About SoilMap.

     SoilMap provides free and convenient online access to detailed soils information for all of Pennsylvania, as well as a wide variety of other environmental data layers. A suite of simple tools allows users to interact with the online mapping and retrieve a wealth of information about Pennsylvania's natural resources. Click Start Mapping to make maps.

     SoilMap is presented by the Penn State Cooperative Extension Geospatial Technology Program with support from the Natural Resources Conservation Service. The Geospatial Technology Program is a research, cooperative extension , and teaching program in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences at Penn State. The system is designed, hosted and maintained by the Geospatial Technology Program. Soils attribute data is served from the NRCS Soil Data Mart.

     SoilMap uses enterprise GIS technology from ESRI and Microsoft to compose and deliver maps.

The data and documentation on SoilMap are provided 'as is' and the User assumes the entire risk as to their quality and performance. SoilMap source data was produced at a variety of scales and may not be suitable for use at larger scales.

=Save Maps - Allows the saving of a map (map extent and layer list) for later viewing.
=GPS Integration - Get coordinates from the map in lat/long or create a map based on GPS coordinates.
=Overview Map - New Overview Map is synchronized with the main map.
=Expanded Soils Information - Link to NRCS Soil Data Mart for detailed soil reports.
=Map Printing - Landscape maps can now be printed.
