SoilMap Layer: Boroughs

The Boroughs layer shows Pennsylvania borough outlines. The information is a subset of the PennDOT 2004 municipality layer. The boroughs are displayed as polygons and are available at scales larger than 1:500,000. At map scales smaller than 1:500,000, the cities and boroughs will display as points. A text option is avalable for this layer which will show the borough name in the center of the polygon.

Boundaries of municipalities within Pennsylvania as delineated for the PennDOT Type 10 general highway maps. Additional information comes from the Pennsylvania Bureau of Municipal Services. This layer contains all classifications of municipality including first and second class townships, boroughs, cities and the town.

This data should be used with caution since municipal boundaries are difficult to locate exactly.
