SoilMap Layer: Soils
This data set is a digital soil survey and generally is the most detailed level of soil geographic data developed by the National Cooperative Soil Survey. The information was prepared by digitizing maps, by compiling information onto a planimetric correct base and digitizing, or by revising digitized maps using remotely sensed and other information.
A text option is available for the soils layer that shows the Mapping Symbol for each soil polygon. To get detailed soils information, click the Soil Report tool and click on a soil polygon on the map. A report will be generated with basic information on the soil as well as links to a number of detailed soil reports that are generated directly from the NRCS Soil Data Mart. This data set is not designed for use as a primary regulatory tool in permitting or citing decisions, but may be used as a reference source. This is public information and may be interpreted by organizations, agencies, units of government, or others based on needs; however, they are responsible for the appropriate application. The Soils layer is only visible at map scales larger than 1:80,000. For More Information - Visit the Pennsylvania Map Compilation and Digitizing Center or the NRCS Soils Website The data and documentation on SoilMap are provided 'as is' and the User assumes the entire risk as to their quality and performance. SoilMap source data was produced at a variety of scales and may not be suitable for use at larger scales. |
